Mother/Son Team Wins
Fall Foliage Rally
CUMBERLAND, MD - Eight
intrepid teams braved the remnants of Hurricane Wilma and were
treated to an enjoyable Fall Foliage rally through Eastern Allegany
County and nearby Pennsylvania.
Designed by Doug Macy
and sanctioned by the Washington DC Region SCCA, the rally covered
72 miles between the Rocky Gap Lodge and Golf Resort and Marks
Daily Grind Restaurant and Coffee Shop in Cumberlands downtown
art and entertainment district.
Entrants were treated
to a brisk continental breakfast under a tent at the Resort and
enjoyed live music at the Daily Grind as results were tabulated.
The winning team of
Michael Shriver and mom Judy attributed their first-time rally
success to years of precise navigation and timing on Michaels
newspaper delivery route! Local autocross regulars Patrick and
Bill Geraghty were second and Team Hyundais Paul Przyborski
and Kate Mewhiney snagged third place in their first-ever rally
effort.
The next National
Road Rally will be held in June, 2006 in conjunction with the
fifth annual National Road Vintage Weekend.
